Itinerary

Morning pick up at your hotel and transfer to Samut Songkhram province. We will visit two unique Thai markets: one of which sits upon the railroad tracks and the other upon a small canal where the vendors sell their wares from traditional boats.

We continue our route to Sangkhlaburi, in the far west of Kanchanaburi province. On the way enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. We will also make a stop at Prasat Muang Singh historical park, a Khmer temple complex dating back to the Angkorian period. Walk around the peaceful historical ruins and explore the history and culture of the area.

Arrive in Sangkhlaburi in the late afternoon or early evening.

Sanghkhlaburi is set towards the end of one of Thailand’s most spectacular roads, nestled on the low hills edging Vajiralongkorn Lake, and is surrounded to the north and east by higher forest-covered limestone ranges. The outlying area houses Karen and Mon villages, caves, waterfalls, the vast Thung Yai Naresuan wildlife reserve and Khao Laem National Park.

After check in at our resort, we will go into the small town for dinner and to explore the night market.

Overnight in Sangkhlaburi.

Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast we will meet our local guide that will lead us through the jungle of Sangkhlaburi. After a short transfer, we start our hike to the Karen hilltribe village of Ban Sa-ne Pong and our camp site. Along the route, the trail leads us through thick forests and rolling mountains.

Before dinner, explore the village, have a chat with its inhabitants and experience the local lifestyle, and enjoy a refreshing swim in the nearby stream.

Overnight in Sa-ne Pong.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast and an ox-cart ride in the village, we trek along the Songkaria river. Along the way, wade through shallow rivers, push through dense foliage, and breathe in the clean air. Tonight we will camp near the Takien Thong Stream.

Dinner and overnight at riverside camp.

Trekking time/grade: 6 hours/moderate to challenging.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Following breakfast and a hike along the stream, we will board a raft (either bamboo or rubber) to get back to Ban Songkaria. The village is home to both the Mon and Karen people and is situated half way up to Three Pagodas Pass. Exploring the village will give you more insight in to the local traditions and customs of these people. Travel via the Burmese border post of Three Pagoda’s pass before returning to Sangkhlaburi.

Overnight in Sangkhlaburi.

Rafting time/grade: 2-3 hours/easy to moderate.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Start this morning with breakfast at your resort, relaxing in the pristine environment of Sangkhlaburi. Then travel to Hin Tok River Camp. Check in at your safari-style tented camp on Hintok Mountain and then enjoy a delicious lunch. With sweeping views of the beautiful landscape and the River Kwai, you will feel totally at peace in this tranquil environment.

The rest of the day is at leisure until dinner. (Optional to visit Hell Fire Pass Museum with a short trekking)

Overnight in Kanchanaburi.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Breakfast at the camp. Then embark on a canoeing and biking excursion. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the River Kwai by canoeing down the river. Under the supervision of an experienced instructor, paddle for two hours along the river. After a refreshment break, take a 10-km easy bike ride through the spectacular Kanchanaburi rainforest. Stops are made en route to visit a local school and temples or even the local villagers going about their daily tasks.

Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant. Then continue for Erawan Waterfall, a beautiful multi-tiered waterfall. Located in Erawan National Park, the best time to visit is during rainy season from May until September. To walk up to see each of the picturesque falls, it is best to bring good walking shoes. Also do remember to bring your swim suit if you wish to swim in the waterfall’s natural pools. After visiting the falls, continue by car through the national park area to Phra That Cave. This large mountain cave is filled with stunning stalactites and stalagmites.

Return to the camp in time for dinner.

Overnight in Kanchanaburi.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, take a short train ride along the infamous ‘death railway’ through Kwai Noi gorge. Your day continues with a drive to Kanchanaburi where you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
